Help

You say what you want to work on. Until the time is up, pages that don't fit wait for later.

Getting started

  1. Welcome. Say what describes you best (student, developer or something else). Intent Filter uses it to suggest sites that are always allowed, like your mail or your docs, and a few example sessions.
  2. Try a one-minute session. A practice run. Nothing is saved, and nothing leaves your browser.
  3. Outside a session. Choose whether websites are locked when no session is running. You can change this later in Settings → Checking.
  4. Turn on page checking. For now this needs a key from a provider; the key guide walks you through it. Soon Intent Filter will check pages for you, with no key.

Sessions and blocks

A session is a plan for the next while, made of blocks. A focus block has a topic and an intention, like “Study for my biology exam” on Biology. During a focus block, pages that fit open as usual and the rest are blocked. During breaks and off-time, anything opens.

You can plan a session on the spot from the session screen, or schedule sessions ahead on the calendar. Off-time is a daily budget of minutes to open anything, inside a focus block or with no plan running.

Blocked pages and Do Later

When a page doesn't fit the block, you see the blocked page instead, and the page is saved to your Do Later list so you can come back to it after the session. Sites on your always-allowed list (Settings → Sites) are never checked.

Weekly goals

Goals are chosen in advance, with a daily minimum: for example, an hour of statistics on weekdays. A session can be started for a goal, and the weekly review shows how each goal went.

Strict mode

Strict mode is for when you know you'll be tempted. While it runs there is no End Plan and no looser settings until it ends.

Page checking

Jev, an AI page checker, reads each page's site, address, title and description (or your search) and decides whether it fits what you set out to do. What is sent and to whom is on the privacy page.

When Intent Filter's own page checking launches, it works like this:

When page checking is used up or paused, your sessions keep running and pages open without being checked.

Contact and bug reports

If something breaks, the quickest way is Settings → Report a Bug in the extension. It goes straight to Aleksandar. You can also write to alekgj.dev@gmail.com.
